Great Britain racer Robert Lambert roared to 12 paid 16 points for Rospiggarna as they defied the absence of injured world champion Jason Doyle to romp to a 54-36 triumph at Vastervik on Tuesday.
Some may have feared for the Hallstavik club as Doyle sits out following his horror crash at the Adrian Flux British SGP in Cardiff on July 21. But a terrific team display earned them maximum points.
Lambert dropped just two points to an opposing rider, while former world No.2 Andreas Jonsson blazed to 14 paid 15 from six. Max Fricke piled up 11 paid 13 and Jacob Thorssell notched nine paid 11.
Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen kept Vastervik’s score respectable on 12, with Peter Kildemand picking up 10. Slovak star Martin Vaculik scored seven paid eight on his club debut.
Elsewhere, four-time world champion Greg Hancock claimed a 14 paid 15-point maximum for Dackarna as they won 49-41 at home to Indianerna.
The Californian defeated runaway World Championship leader Tai Woffinden twice on his Indians debut and will be keen to deliver another big performance in the Scandinavian SGP in Malilla on August 11.
World No.2 Patryk Dudek picked up 10 paid 11 points for the hosts, while Maciej Janowski bagged nine.
Woffinden collected 12 paid 13 for the Indians, with Anders Thomsen adding nine paid 10 and Kenneth Bjerre and Vaclav Milik racing to eight paid nine points each.
Vetlanda duo Artem Laguta and Brady Kurtz both bagged 14 points as their side held on for a 45-45 draw away to champions Smederna.
Laguta continued his red-hot Swedish form, while Kurtz produced his performance of the season in Eskilstuna. SGP star Bartosz Zmarzlik weighed in with a useful nine paid 11 for the visitors.
Swedish star Freddie Lindgren led the hosts on 13, with SGP qualifier Niels-Kristian Iversen registering nine paid 10.
In the day’s other meeting, Australian champion Rohan Tungate raced to 14 points for Lejonen as they got the better of strugglers Masarna 49-41 in Gislaved. Former SGP regular Piotr Pawlicki picked up 13 paid 14 for the Lions, with World Under-21 champion Maksym Drabik adding nine paid 12.
Linus Sundstrom was the Avesta outfit’s top scorer on 12 paid 13, while Kim Nilsson tallied 10 paid 12 and GP Challenge bronze medallist Antonio Lindback notched a straight 10.
