Great Britain icon Tai Woffinden blazed to a fantastic 14 points for Wroclaw as they defeated Czestochowa 48-42 in the PGE Ekstraliga on Sunday.

The double world champion went unbeaten in his first four rides, but Lions’ leading man Leon Madsen got the better of him in heat 15 to complete a stunning afternoon on 16 points.

Hometown hero Maciej Janowski impressed on 10 paid 13 for Wroclaw, while World Under-21 champ Maksym Drabik bagged 11.

It was a tough day for Czestochowa’s SGP stars as Freddie Lindgren scored seven, ending his afternoon with a crash in heat 14. Matej Zagar registered six just 24 hours after withdrawing from the GP Challenge with a twisted knee.

Elsewhere, Polish star Bartosz Zmarzlik bagged 14 points as Gorzow stormed to a 52-38 triumph at Tarnow.

His return was topped only by that of world No.2 Krzysztof Kasprzak, who made up for his failure to score in Saturday’s GP Challenge with a 14 paid 15-point maximum on his old home track. Another ex-Tarnow rider Martin Vaculik weighed in with nine paid 11.

Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen led the hosts on nine paid 10, with Peter Kildemand adding eight paid nine.

Russian racer Artem Laguta powered to a sensational 16 paid 17 for Grudziadz as they won 49-41 at home to neighbours Torun.

Sweden’s Antonio Lindback celebrated his SGP qualification for 2019 with 12 paid 13, while last year’s GP Challenge winner Przemyslaw Pawlicki picked up 11 paid 12.

Last night’s GP Challenge runner-up Niels-Kristian Iversen topped the Torun scorechart on 10 points, while Chris Holder collected nine paid 10 and his younger brother Jack added eight paid nine.

In the day’s other meeting, GP Challenge winner Janusz Kolodziej brought his Landshut form to Zielona Gora, scoring 11 paid 12 as Leszno cruised to a 52-38 away win.

Former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel raced to 12 paid 13, with Emil Sayfutdinov adding 10 paid 13.

Grzegorz Zengota topped the Falubaz scorechart on nine paid 10, with Jacob Thorssell recording a straight nine. SGP star Patryk Dudek collected six paid seven.
