Sweden face a tough finish to tonight’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Semi-Final 1 as they meet Poland and Denmark in their last two rides.
The draw has pitted the three-time FIM Speedway World Cup winners against the Poles in race 16 as world No.3 Freddie Lindgren and partner Pontus Aspgren take on Polish world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Lublin sensation Dominik Kubera.
Sweden have been drawn on the inside – gates one and three – for what could be a crucial battle in the race to secure a top-two finish and automatic qualification for the Monster Energy SON Final in Manchester.
Scandinavia’s top two then clash in race 21 – the last of the night’s heats – as the Swedish duo face Danish stars Leon Madsen and Mikkel Michelsen. The Swedes have also been handed the inside gates for this vital clash.
Poland and Denmark face off in heat nine, with Denmark starting from gates one and three as the nations bid to gain the upper hand in their bid to avoid the Final Qualifier, which sees the third-placed nation after 21 heats race the team in fourth for the final spot in Manchester.
The Poles start their night by taking on USA duo Broc Nicol and Luke Becker in heat one, before the Danes open their meeting in race two against Czech riders Vaclav Milik and Josef Franc.
Sweden get started against Slovenian pair Matic Ivacic and Nick Skorja in heat three, with Finnish pair Timo Lahti and Tero Aarnio kicking off their Semi-Final against the Americans in race four.
