German racer Martin Smolinski has been forced out of Saturday’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Semi-Final 2 due to injury.
The Bavarian crashed in heat 10 of German club Landshut’s Polish Second Division play-off semi-final, second leg at Rawicz last Saturday.
The Daugavpils event comes too soon for Smolinski as he recovers from his crash and he is replaced in Germany’s No.2 berth by Valentin Grobauer, who races for Smolinski’s old club Birmingham in Britain’s SGB Championship.
Grobauer teams up with captain Kai Huckenbeck and under-21 star Nick Blodorn to face Latvia, MFR, Australia, France, Italy and the Ukraine.
