Great Britain star Craig Cook would love to return to the national side for 2021, but insisted he’s focused on his own form for now.
The Cumbrian is no stranger to racing for his country, having competed in the FIM Speedway World Cup and the 2018 and 2019 Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations, helping the Lions to silver in Wroclaw in 2018.
Cook was overlooked for this season’s competition as he hadn’t raced since last year. But he could be in contention for a return to the side for the 2021 Monster Energy SON Final in Manchester on October 16 and 17.
The King’s Lynn and Glasgow man would love to be part of the team and knows his way around the National Speedway Stadium after spending three seasons there in Belle Vue colours.
But with the big weekend a long way away, Cook is just keen to focus on ensuring his performances are tip-top.
He said: “It’s not something I have really given a lot of thought about. I know how good I can be and I know there is more to come from me. We will just see what happens when next year comes around and see what I can do.
“If they want me, I am there and if they don’t, that’s fine also. I am working hard on my own thing right now and getting myself right.
“Being a part of Team GB is fantastic. I want to be a part of it, but that all depends on how good I get, where I am next season and how well I am going at the time.”
