FIM Speedway Grand Prix duo Leon Madsen and Anders Thomsen have both been named in Denmark’s national squad for 2021.
The duo bagged bronze at the Monster Energy SON Final in Lublin in October – their country’s first senior world team medal since 2015.
As things stand, their 17-year-old team mate Marcus Birkemose, who starred alongside them with five points in Poland, is not listed in the under-21 squad.
But that does not prevent team manager Hans Nielsen from recalling him for the SON, which gets underway with the Semi-Finals in Daugavpils on September 17 and 18.
Former SGP regulars Niels-Kristian Iversen, Mikkel Michelsen and Michael Jepsen Jensen all made the list, while Nicolai Klindt returns to the squad after a strong 2020 with Ostrow in the Polish First Division.
Rasmus Jensen, Frederik Jakobsen and Andreas Lyager all complete the list of seniors who will compete for two places in the Danish SON side.
Mads Hansen, Jonas Seifert, Tim Sorensen, Jonas Knudsen and Emil Portner are named as Nielsen’s under-21 riders, while Jonas Jeppesen, Matias Nielsen, Patrick Hansen and Jason Jorgensen have been placed in an under-23 group that will contest the brand-new European Under-23 Championship.
