Czech young gun Jan Kvech looks set to miss the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Final after suffering a fractured collarbone.
The Czech under-21 star sustained the injury when he crashed in Zielona Gora’s PGE Ekstraliga third-place play-off, first leg win over Wroclaw.
Ruts on the entrance to the first turn caused havoc on Friday night as a host of riders crashed hard, with Kvech and his Falubaz team mate Norbert Krakowiak coming off worst.
Krakowiak was due to undergo surgery on a broken forearm, while Kvech is also set to go under the knife.
The news comes as a blow to the Czech Republic ahead of their first-ever Monster Energy SON Final next weekend and looks set to hand Petr Chlupac the chance to race as his country’s under-21 representative.
