Swedish star Antonio Lindback roared to the race win that sealed local side Masarna their first Swedish title in 20 years.
The Avesta outfit won 51-39 away to Indianerna to claim the Bauhaus Elitserien crown 98-82 on aggregate on Thursday.
Born in Brazil, Lindback has grown up in Avesta and learned his speedway craft in Masarna colours.
Despite a tough year in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series, he ended his season on a huge high after winning heat 14 ahead of Russian hero Vadim Tarasenko to bag the club’s first Swedish title since 2000.
Lindback raced to 11 paid 12 points, while triple world champion Nicki Pedersen racked up 12 paid 13 for Masarna. But it was Tarasenko who led the charge on 14 paid 17 points from six in a sensational performance.
Swedish international Pontus Aspgren led the Indians scorechart on 13 paid 14, with Jonas Jeppesen adding 11.
But the hosts struggled in the absence of the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen and Max Fricke, who is in Poland preparing for Wroclaw’s PGE Ekstraliga bronze medal play-off with Zielona Gora on Friday.
