European champion Robert Lambert hopes Great Britain’s finest can capitalise on a golden opportunity to end Lions’ world-title wait at the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Final in Manchester this October.

Lambert is enjoying the season of his life and booked his place in the 2021 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series by lifting the Speedway European Championship at Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena last month.

We’ll be going there to get some silverware and nothing else. Hopefully we all have a good day. If we do, we can definitely come away with something.

With triple world champion Tai Woffinden also piling up the points for Wroclaw, GB could start among the favourites for the Monster Energy SON crown as they chase a first world team title since 1989.

Woffy and Lambert seem almost certain to be selected, with Dan Bewley set to serve as their under-21 star as he bids to recover from a broken shoulder blade.

While the Lions will face stiff competition from the likes of champions Russia, Poland, Australia, Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic, Lambert has high hopes for the Brits when they head for the National Speedway Stadium on October 24 and 25.

“That’s going to be an awesome meeting,” he said. “We’ll be going there to get some silverware and nothing else. Hopefully we all have a good day. If we do, we can definitely come away with something.

“We could not ask for a better position to be in. But it’s speedway. We just need to see what happens on the day. As long as we are prepared and focused, though, I am sure we can take it all the way.”
