Joint Great Britain boss Simon Stead is urging fans to stay connected throughout the coronavirus lockdown.

Stead took charge of the Lions alongside Oliver Allen last summer, but must wait for his Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations debut after the tournament was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He’s also waiting for his return to SGB Premiership management as the former Leicester boss gets ready to lead Sheffield into the top flight, with a side spearheaded by triple world champion Nicki Pedersen.

Restrictions on movement have caused health and financial worries for people throughout the world and left some feeling isolated at the toughest of times. While the Sheffield boss would love to see fans at trackside as soon as it’s safe to go racing, he hopes they will continue interacting with each other online to offer support. And he urges fans to reach out for help if they need it.

He said: “I know these are tough times but please everyone, do not feel alone because you’re not.

“Even if you’re self-isolating and in lockdown living on your own – you are not alone. Social media and technology means someone is only ever a call or a message away.

“So talk to your family, talk to your friends, get involved with discussions online and don’t be afraid to talk to the various groups and help lines that are out there if you are feeling a bit low. Nobody has to suffer in silence so please get online and get talking.”
