FIM Speedway Grand Prix star Maciej Janowski’s exile from the Polish national team for 2020 has been confirmed.
The world No.6 has been left out of Poland’s squad along with Przemyslaw and Piotr Pawlicki, as well as World Under-21 champion Maksym Drabik.
This is after the quartet missed Poland’s meeting with a Rest of the World team in Rybnik on October 12, with all four withdrawing due to illness, submitting a doctor’s note.
Their absence from the side sparked uproar in the Polish media, especially with world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik battling his way through the meeting despite an illness of his own.
Former skipper Janowski could miss the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations in 2020 unless the decision is reversed.
Their absence leaves SGP duo Zmarzlik and Patryk Dudek to lead the Polish side next summer, with former SGP riders Janusz Kolodziej, Jaroslaw Hampel and Krzysztof Kasprzak also selected.
Bartosz Smektala, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Pawel Przedpelski, Kacper Woryna, Szymon Wozniak and Jakub Jamrog round off the list of seniors.
Leszno young gun Dominik Kubera heads the list of junior riders, and he’s joined by the likes of Jakub Miskowiak, Wiktor Lampart, Mateusz Bartkowiak, Mateusz Cierniak, Norbert Krakowiak, Igor Kopec-Sobczynski, Przemyslaw Liszka, Wiktor Trofimow and Karol Zupinski.
