Great Britain racer Robert Lambert cruised to his third straight British Under-21 Championship with a six-ride maximum at Berwick on Saturday.
The King’s Lynn hero blazed through his five heats unbeaten, before seeing off Swindon and Birmingham man Zach Wajtknecht, Leicester’s Jack Thomas and Eastbourne and Cradley star Tom Brennan to win the final.
It’s the SGP first reserve's last British title at junior level as he will be too old to compete in next year’s competition, but he signed off in style as he waits to find out whether he will be in GB’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations side in the coming days.
Brennan joined Lambert in qualifying automatically for the final by scoring 12 points in the heats, beating Belle Vue man Dan Bewley and Thomas on countback after the trio tied.
Bewley had to make do with a semi-final spot but finished at the back as Wajtknecht triumphed ahead of Thomas and Drew Kemp, who was making his debut in the competition. Wajtknecht and Kemp both bagged 11 in the heats.
