SWEDISH CHAMP TO EARN MALILLA WILD CARD

Swedish Championship winner set to claim Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card.

25 / 04 / 2019, 14:00

The stakes are higher than ever in this year’s Swedish Championship on July 27 in Hallstavik with the winner set to earn the Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card.

The new national champion – or runner-up if an SGP regular lifts the title – will don the famous No.16 race jacket in Malilla on August 17.

A similar system is already in place in British speedway, with the British champion lining up at the Adrian Flux British SGP in Cardiff.

With the chance to win a place in one of Sweden’s biggest speedway events on the line, BSI Speedway managing director Torben Olsen is expecting a hotly-contested Swedish Championship Final.

He said: “We’re delighted to be offering such a huge opportunity to the new Swedish champion, in partnership with SVEMO and the FIM.

“The chance to take on the world’s top riders on the fantastic Malilla race track is one every Swedish rider will be determined to win – as well as the right to be called Swedish champion, of course.

“The Scandinavian SGP in Malilla is always an exciting date on the SGP calendar, and having such a big prize at stake in the Swedish Final only adds to the anticipation.”
