American racer Luke Becker insists he “won’t get carried away”, after mastering Monmore Green to score 13 paid 14 points for Wolves.

American international Luke Becker insists he “won’t get carried away”, after mastering Monmore Green to score 13 paid 14 points for Wolverhampton on Monday night.
The Californian topped the Wolves scorechart in the Premiership Supporters Cup contest, dropping just a point from five rides. He also bagged 11 paid 12 against Swindon there in the SGB Premiership last Monday.
Becker is no stranger to tight and technical tracks, having learned his trade on the tiny Californian circuits.
It’s pretty cool to get back to Monmore and get the win for the team. I probably wasn’t expecting these points at this stage but it’s a good start.

He’s determined to take his red-hot home form on the road and improve on his four-point haul at Peterborough on April 11 and four paid five at Belle Vue in the clubs' lunchtime meeting on Monday.
But Becker’s form is a huge boost for club and country, with USA set to name their Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations side for Race Off 2 in Manchester soon.
The 20-year-old is keen to stay grounded, though. He said: “It was a good night for me and the team, pretty awesome for my second time here. But I won’t get carried away. I always stay super-cool anyway; that’s just the way I am. So I won’t let this go to my head. There are tougher challenges ahead.
“It was pretty tough at Belle Vue earlier. I usually like the bigger tracks but it took me time to sort it out there.
“So it’s pretty cool to get back to Monmore and get the win for the team. I probably wasn’t expecting these points at this stage but it’s a good start.”
Following a great night, Becker paid tribute to good friend and mentor Greg Hancock, who helped him gain experience of European racing with Rzeszow last term, as Becker begins to make his presence felt in the UK.
He said: “I talk to Greg of course, we keep in touch. This is all down to him that I’m here really. He stepped it up for me. It was a definitely a good night!”
